The new Indoor Athletic Complex (IAC), located just northwest of the football stadium, opened in March of 1999.

The facility features two "bays." One provides practice space for softball, baseball, field hockey, women's soccer and football and the other houses the men's and women's Jack Skoog Indoor Track. In addition, there is a 7,100-square-foot weight room, a training room with a Swim-Ex hydrotherapy pool and an academic center complete with computer facilities, study space and rooms for academic advising, tutoring and meetings.

"The new facility is certainly needed and addresses three areas of concern for all of our student-athletes," said athletics director Herb Deromedi. "It's a great help for our student-athletes academically, and the new weightroom will help physically. Plus, it gives our athletes the chance to prepare the best they can without weather being a factor.

"The indoor track will be a great asset to all of our teams as well as the men's and women's track teams. It will be an outstanding addition to our athletics facilities."

The Jack Skoog Indoor Track features a 200-meter track with six running lanes and eight sprinting lanes. It has dual pole vault and long jump/triple jump runways, bleacher seating for 650, a 1,000 square foot lockerroom and a visitor lockerroom. An automatic timing system with instant scoreboard display is also included.

As part of the plan, Central Michigan's Lyle Bennett outdoor track has moved from its current site on the north side of campus to a spot just west of the new indoor facility. The 1999 Mid-American Conference outdoor track and field championships were held at the new facility on May 20-22.

The Chippewa women's soccer team's home field is located in the infield of Bennett Track.

Central Michigan's campus recreation fields were relocated to university property west of Kewadin Village on Broomfield Road.

The Indoor Athletic Complex (IAC) opened in March 1999. The facility is made up of two bays. One bay houses the Jack Skoog Indoor Track, which is used for men’s and women’s track and field competitions.

The other bay provides practice space for softball, baseball, field hockey, women's soccer and football. In addition, the facility houses a 7,100-square-foot weight room, a training room with a hydrotherapy pool, and an academic center complete with computer facilities, study space and rooms for academic advising, tutoring and meetings.
